I was very disappointed with the service I received from Macfarlanes. I instructed them, in 2011, on potential recovery of illegal charges from an online exchange, which should have been a simple breach of contract claim, but they preferred to take an "unfair competition" line, which one QC described as "not worth the candle". They also advised my solicitor to adopt this approach, and as a result I lost a potential claim of around 100k. I have commenced a claim against them for Professional Negligence but they have not complied with the Pre-action Protocol. In addition they did not send all the documents with my file, but withheld a crucial handwritten note.
