Michael E Review of Select Luxury Cars

First and foremost, I must say that Orlando, the salesman I worked with, was very easy to talk to and accommodating to all of my requests as an out of state buyer. He kept in contact with me even when he was not at work. However, once we got to the final stage of the purchase, it all fell apart. After working with Orlando for almost a week on a pre-owned car he had for sale, he sent me an offer via e-mail on Sunday to which I countered at 9:30 the following morning. I did not hear from him after that, so I called him on my lunch break around 1:00 PM. We spoke briefly and agreed on a price for the car and he asked that I send over a credit card deposit as "his boss had 3 other people interested in the car." I told him to e-mail me the deposit document and I would fill it out as soon as I got back to the office. Within 30 minutes I had it filled out and sent back to him. Shortly after that, he called me and told me one of the employees at the dealership was needing a new car and was in between the one I was interested in and another one they had in stock. This was a shock to me, as he had my credit card deposit in his hand, we had just agreed on the sale price 30 minutes ago, and I had been working on this with him for almost a week now. All he could tell me was "they must really like this employee and I will let you know." Didn't hear from him for a bit, then he told me, "now the kid is trying to figure out if he can afford the insurance on the car." Are you kidding me? Orlando had gone into detail about the history of the company, their online reviews, and their devotion to customer service, especially out of state buyers, but to sell the car out from under me to an employee at the dealership after we had agreed to a price on the phone AND had already submitted the form for the deposit? Can't say that's very good customer service.
