I ve had this review ready to post for quite some time, but we typically only leave reviews if they are positive. This review is obviously not. So why did we decide to post it? Because the builder refuses to answer texts, phone calls, or emails. The only person who will talk to us is the accountant and she has to refer us right back to Mike and Alex. They don t even acknowledge us. The attached photos show the condition they left the home in. We wanted to hold out and force them to fix these problems before moving in, but their finish date at the beginning of August was pushed back to late August, then early September ("at the very latest"), then late September, then finally October. We had to pay for multiple loan extensions and the bank finally forced us to sign or we would have to apply for a new loan at a higher rate. So we signed with the assurance that all of the problems would be fixed right away.
Referring to the photos:
Paint scraped off of walls.
Grout sealer smeared all over the black stone tiles on the shower floor.
Kitchen sink not the one we ordered and installed backwards and on top of the granite.
Broken crown molding.
Unpainted walls.
They lost the control switch for the fireplace and installed a light switch on the stone.
Door to the outside that doesn t close all the way.
Shower threshold that slopes OUT of the shower instead of into the shower so all the water runs out onto the floor.
Multiple doors that are misaligned so they don t latch or stay closed (so they obviously don t lock either).
Gaps in the wood flooring and smeared glue.
Cabinet doors rub and the paint on the corners has already rubbed off.
Many right angles not even close to square.
Brick backsplash not complete.

Bathroom light fixtures hangs off the wall.
Nearly every door frame has a huge gap between the frame and the floor.
Door frames are not square (or vertical) and many hinges are stripped out.
Gaps around wall plates.
Insufficient depth of cabinet for standard dishwasher.

I get that these things happen , but what I don t get is a company that ignores the customer who just spent several hundred thousand dollars on their product.
Which brings me to another point. They (Alex at least) lies at every conversation.
We agreed on a beveled concrete front porch step and he put in a non-beveled brick front porch step. He says the light fixture parts haven t arrived so we call the showroom ourselves to get the status and oh guess what fixture parts are already there. We tell him he s got the wrong sink and it won t fit and he glues it in anyway and acts like he didn t know it was the wrong sink.
When the well cover was being built Mike came by and saw there weren t enough shingles and said he would go get some more. Never happened. Guy comes to finish the roof and not enough shingles, so he has to come back another time.
It goes on and on. When you buy a custom built home you assume the quality and workmanship will be better than a spec home. We only wish we had a spec home where there were standards that were adhered too and the builders knew what they were doing and cared to do it the right way. It has been a miserable heartache and we wish we had never bought from them. If you are considering buying a house from Showcase, please reconsider. If you have already begun the building process, get everything in writing. They will not hesitate to lie to you. Any communication that is not in writing didn t happen, and anything they didn t actually sign is worthless. We had an addendum that our realtor assured us would guarantee completion of all of these problems. She said she had four witnesses that Mike had agreed to it, but when it came down to it, Mike never signed the addendum and refuses to honor it. We have spent every weekend for the past 3 months fixing things that should have been done right in the first place. And oh BTW no rain gutters. Pics say it all
