I'm child-free, but I still like to visit Cal Academy at least once a year. The Thursday evening "Nightlife" is worth checking out. It's 21+ with ID from 6:00-10:00 pm. There is live music, adult beverages for sale, and various exhibits that you don't see during normal business hours. Outside of this, my favorite feature is the tropical rainforest and butterfly sanctuary!
