I took a basic mediation course at PSI, and I was pleasantly surprised. Not only are the staff friendly, knowledgable, and experienced, but they emphasize participation and practice in transformative type mediations. So as soon as I finished the course, I felt competent enough in the basic skills and ready to conduct a real mediation. There were some university students in our class who had degrees in conflict resolution, but hadn't been able to practice what they'd learned yet. The PSI class gave us all a chance to learn through practice in transforming relationships. The critiques of video-taped student mediations are conducted in a gentle and encouraging manner. I wish more courses had hands-on learning like this, because that's the way I learn best. Top notch instruction and feedback!
