Daniel Herstine Review of Associa mid-atlantic

Update 8/23/21:
(Three Star) After I posted my review on 8/12, someone from Associa did reach out to me and resolve one urgent issue the next day. A few days after that, the Community Manager Tom (who I had never spoken with before) reached out to me to discuss some of the problems and concerns I've had. He explained some of the challenges they've faced related to staffing for the past few months, and apologized that I wasn't kept better informed. He also encouraged me to email him directly with any questions or concerns in the future. I still have reservations about the problems at my complex, but I am willing to be patient to see how they are addressed, and hopeful that we will have better interactions in the future.
Original Review from 8/12/21:
(One Star) I want to say this company provides poor service, but that would imply that they actually provide any service at all. In my experiences for the past year, the most common response I get is no response at all. Maintenance requests get a cursory acknowledgement, and then no follow-up (for months!) unless you harass them for an update. One time they flat out lied and said they had come to my condo to investigate a leak issue, but my tenant said all they did was call him on the phone to see if he was home, and then ghosted him. There are significant issues in the community related to upkeep of the roads, the condition of the roofs and drainage systems, garbage piling up every week, and as far as I can tell no plans to address any of it.
Phone numbers go to answering machines and the messages never get returned. Emails are ignored until you send the 3rd or 4th one. Today was a new one, I called and just got dead air, and then tried again and got "this number is out of service". They have an online information portal that has no information at all except a Xeroxed blurry bylaws document from like 30 years ago. Shouldn't they be posting things like the board meeting schedule? The business and community repairs under consideration? Updates on amenities like the pool? Clear community rules for things like grills, outdoor furniture, parking? They send you info so you can continue paying their monthly fees, and penalize you if you're 5 days late. How about timely and responsive customer service that isn't atrocious?
