While I've been to the Riviera Maya 13 times, I've...

While I've been to the Riviera Maya 13 times, I've been to this little gem 10 times over the past 6 years, including 3 times in 2018. We re already booked again in May and July of 2019. We don t own a time share and I m not a travel agent. When it comes to the staff, I ll admit I m biased. These people have become like family. When it comes to the value, there is no bias here. It s basic math. I m here to tell you this place gives you great bang for your buck. We choose to return time and time again for these two reasons. While the people have become like family, we choose OMR over countless other countries, cities and resorts because we can visit 2-3x per year on a very reasonable budget and we get to see this amazing group of people. Seems like a win win to me! The staff is phenomenal and make this place great. OMR treats you right whether you re a 1st timer or 10th timer.

If you're looking for more information and 100s of pictures, feel free to visit SMS Trips and Travels. I ve written a post about all 10 stays.

Every July we visit OMR to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary. For my birthday we had a special meal at Blue Moon where we were treated like royalty by the lovely Carolina. For our anniversary we enjoyed a fabulous four-course dinner near the fountain where Minerva was our excellent server. Thanks to Miguel and Rodrigo for going the extra mile for both of these celebrations!

Blue Moon and La Dolce Vita are always our favorite restaurants at OMR. Jorge at La Dolce will go above and beyond to accommodate us. Similarly, we ate at Blue Moon every other night. Carolina is the sweetest and we've adored her since we first met. At Blue Moon we enjoyed the clam chowder and saffron pasta every single time!

We stopped at El Charro for a drink and a ceviche appetizer. The ceviche is refreshing and small enough for each of us to enjoy our own. While we don't typically eat at the buffet, they have a themed menu for dinner and we often popped in at breakfast, lunch and dinner to see what was on display.

The privilege lounge is the biggest treat for breakfast and lunch. It's a beautiful and relaxing reprieve. Breakfast is a la carte and we often chose something small like fruit or yogurt, but occasionally we ordered a more traditional breakfast. We ate lunch every day in the Privilege lounge. It's pretty awesome and there are so many things to choose from...guacamole, sliders, chicken fingers, panini, prawns, chicken club. Manual provides the best service. He is such a great guy. We also enjoyed dinner at Privilege a few times and when it was a little too hot to eat at La Dolce, we enjoyed dinner here and ordered off of the La Dolce menu.

We spend the majority of time at the quiet pool (vs. the party pool) - approximately 8 hours per day. Yikes! It's so hot in July and it's really challenging to be elsewhere during the day, but we don t complain. We love the heat and love the pool.

Before dinner, we always go to the lobby bar for a pre-dinner cocktail and after dinner we enjoyed the late-night show in the courtyard. Yovanetti, Tila and Ana are the highlight of the evening as they take care of us with speed, kindness and always a smile on their face.
As always, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel like family.

There were six of us that traveled to OMR during this time. We are friends from the US and Canada and all met on vacation. Collectively, we have been to OMR 38 times, so as far as I'm concerned, we are family!

Miguel, Rodrigo, Carolina, Jorge, Manual, Yovanetti, Tila, Ana, Victor, Dafne, Azusena, Mario, Aranza, Minerva, Adrian, Eber, Jonny, Miguel (pool bar) and the rest of my OMR crew are like our second family. Thank you for all you do to make us feel right at home! We ll see you soon
