This is the second time I've dined at Crossroads. The first time was for dinner exactly a year before, which was superb. I highly recommend coming here for dinner and ordering, at least, the lasagna (or any freshly made pasta) and oysters if they're on the menu. There's many other items that are amazing for dinner, you can't go wrong. This visit for lunch was great, but not nearly as impressive. I had the chicken and waffles, mac and cheese, fingerling potatoes, and a club sandwich. My favorite of the meal was the club sandwich - it was undoubtedly the best club sandwich I have ever had. The bread was toasted to perfection and every ingredient in the sandwich was adding a delicious texture and flavor. This is what all clubs should taste like. The chicken and waffles was a slight disappointment. While I haven't found a vegan waffle that is as similar in taste and texture as a egg-based waffle, this one reminded me a lot of eggo waffles because it was a little bland and boring. The chicken was too familiar - because it was literally a fried Gardein nugget. Now, don't get me wrong, I like Gardein. But I really expected something flavorful and delicious from Crossroads. The batter wasn't too think and wasn't soggy either, but again I needed flavors. I like strong southern-inspiration in my chicken and waffles. The mac and cheese was great in that it was the most mac and cheese tasting plant-based mac and cheese I have had yet. However, it was still a little lacking in the inspiration. The fingerling potatoes were delicious. Really, what I wanted to order here was the Benedict. But they didn't have it because of the preceeding holiday the day before. My recommendation is to come here for lunch if you want something guaranteed to be good, but not mind blowing. Come here for dinner to experience the magic.
