Paid $9 for 3 hours at the meter, placed the receipt on the dash, went to the beach (on a cold water day, so didn't get to enjoy it all that much) and returned to my vehicle 2 hours later. Couldn't believe it when I saw a ticket for "Improper Display of Paid Parking Receipt". The wind had blown the receipt upside down as I closed the door when I left the car. For FORTY EIGHT DOLLARS!!! so I called today, and was told if I wanted to fight it, I needed to show up in court. Sometimes they were upheld, sometimes thrown out, sometimes reduced, but she didn't know what the outcome would be. I can't understand how this is not a "Just prove you paid and we will drop the charge" sort of thing. NJ Municipal corruption on display for all to see here. I paid, and get to pay again, o joy! Plus $10 per person to get into the beach? Please. I won't be back, what a joke.
