Pretty disappointing, unfortunately. This was our first family trip away from home in 4 years, and it required a little bit of saving. We were gifted a night at this hotel and tickets to an event, so I added a second night at the Grand River, that I would pay for. We arrived, and I was very pleased with everything, the staff was great, and I loved the decor. We went to our room, and I instantly noticed that there was what looked to be pop, splattered all over the bathroom and joint room doors. Ok, it happens. Then I noticed the hole in the wall where the cable comes in, with no cover (of course this was of endless interest of my children the whole trip). Ok, work in progress. Next, I get the text alert that my account has been used for a $251 charge. My room was $109 and there was a sign in the lobby that said $50 authorization charge for debit cards. So, thats not quite $251. I go down to the front desk to ask, and am told its an authorization fee that will be refunded upon checkout. Uhm, ok. So the night goes on, there are a few more discoveries in our room, including water damage, stale water in the minifridge, and dried urine in the bathroom. Ok. This sucks, but it is what it is, let's enjoy it. Next morning, I get a SECOND text that my account has been charged $125 from the Grand River. So now Im 300 some miles from home, with 14 dollars because I was charged over $375 for a $109 room that was disgusting. In the end, the manager had one charge reversed by the next morning, however I've yet to see the second refund. The hotel is beautiful, but definitely needs a little attention, and the charging nonsense needs to be fixed. I truly thought this was an isolated oops, but I kinda doubt it now.
