The Acropolis is everything I imagined it would be...

The Acropolis is everything I imagined it would be. In fact, I wanted to touch the ground to prove I was truly there.

Some things to keep in mind. The walk up is long and gets steeper. There are also some steps to negotiate. There are virtually no handrails. Once at the top, the surface changes to marble, which is very slippery when DRY. It would be terrifying, if wet. I used my cane so much today, I wore the metal through the rubber tip. That's not good. A walker would be useless given the changing terrain. Don't try to push a wheelchair up. That said, on the south(?) end there is an elevator. Ask BEFORE you use your ticket and walk through the gate. I wish I'd used the elevator. Keep in mind you'll miss some wonderful attractions, if you choose to do that. Places such as the Theatre of Dionysus and a Roman amphitheatre, for instance.

If you buy a multi-venue ticket, you may only visit each site ONCE. As the closing time draws near, the staff will blow whistles to get you to move out. They don't want people to snap anymore photos or sit. They wanted us out of there. That said, they did let a couple of us take a few minutes to catch our breaths. A BIG THANK YOU FOR THAT!!!

I spent about an hour on the Acropolis and I'm satisfied with how much time I had. There is no entering the Parthenon or Erechtheion. The first due to conservation. The second because there is no floor in spots!

The trip up the hill is totally worth it! Enjoy my pictures and share your stories!
