I would not recommend St. Francis Care ever.
I found a dog on line Mariko male husky/lab
Adorable. I could not complete the adaption papers on line, no fax, I called and asked if I could take a picture and send application e-mail. I was excepted, as a mom to Miriko I would pick him up Monday 12/5. I called to make sure all was okay to pick up Mariko and what type of payment. I m 2.5 hours away so I wanted to confirm all was good. St. Francis said yes he is ready. They should have said "sorry we adapted Mariko out" or "he is sick with cough". I drive 2.5 hrs. Sign the papers and pay 250.00. They bring out a dog with the same coloring but he was skinner I could see his ribs. I asked about his parents. The girls behind the desk told me his mother was killed by a car. A foster husky mom was brought into nurse. Home bound we went not sure I had the right pup I requested. Poor baby was sick coughing, mucus coming out of his nose, vomiting, pooping in the crate. I cleaned it out three times before we finally made it home. He was lathorgic, coughing, biting his paws. I sent his pictures to a vet and they said those are two different dogs. One is a med/large breed the other is a small breed. I was told to return him since he was sick and it was not the original dog I requested. Called first thing in the morning 12/6 explained the situation. He was curled up on my lap the 2.5 hr drive. Poor guy. I hated taking him back to a place that made him sick but even the vet said they should take care of him. I feel the adaption was a "bait and switch". They had an event on Saturday and probably adapted out the Mariko I had choosen. The little guy was sick. I had him less than 24 hrs. St. Francis, Refused to refund my money of $250. Did not offer me another pup. Was rude to me by stating we don't have high energy dogs that match my personality all their dogs are loveable. That I obviously did not really want a dog or I would have taken this one. Several of my foster pup friends explained to me "It's not fair to the dog or it's owner if the dog does not fit the owners life style". I have been looking for months for a husky mix to run and hike with every day. A small hound mix may not be able to keep up with that life style. They did not care if it was a good fit or that they switched dogs, lied, were rude. I was very disappointed and I feel so bad about leaving that little guy with an uncaring faculty. I'm shocked they adopt out sick pups and switch and bate.
