WARNING - do NOT purchase an Orenco Septic System....

WARNING - do NOT purchase an Orenco Septic System. You will regret it especially in Arizona. We purchased a home with an Orenco system (Advantex) that was being regularly maintained by the original installer. In August of 2017, a problem with drainage between the Recirc and Discharge tanks developed. After inspection, our regular maintenance person (the original installer) concluded that there was a problem with roots in the disbursement valve. He indicated that the valve would need to be replaced and that the entire process would take approximately 3 hours as long as someone with a backhoe was hired to do the digging. The replacement is simple. Our regular maintenance person walked us through it. The only thing time consuming is digging which with a backhoe should not be a problem. Unfortunately, our maintenance person was in the process of retiring. We found it nearly impossible to locate another septic person with any experience regarding Orenco systems. We went with a recommendation. Similarly, in Arizona, there is a single distributor and you are not allowed to purchase parts directly from the manufacturer. There's no competition and it's not exactly a consumer friendly situation. On August 31, 2017, our new septic company indicated that it was working with the distributor to replace the disbursement valve. On September 3, 2017, we were told that the valve had not even been ordered yet. We contacted Orenco directly. Orenco indicated that we had to contact the distributor. We contacted the distributor. On September 6, 2017, we were told that the distributor and repair company had met at the home and were working to get the issue resolved. Then, we were told that they had confused our home with another and that they would meet at the home on September 7. They did not. We have a security / surveillance system with video recording so we can tell when anyone arrives at our home and exactly how much time has been spent at the home. We again contacted Orenco on September 11. Orenco again passed the buck back to the distributor. Orenco did contact the distributor for us so the distributor and repair company finally met at our home. We were told that the valve would be replaced. It is now going on about a month since we requested this 3-hour repair. We contacted Orenco on September 20, 2017. Orenco indicated that the valve had not even been requested yet. Orenco again indicated that they could not sell directly to their consumers. Orenco said they only thing they could do was to contact the distributor . . . again. Save your time, money, and avoid headaches -- do NOT purchases an Orenco system.
