Went to a show at the attached studio. The neighborhood seemed sketch as we drove in, but the restaurant is attached to a compound of art/film/music/artistic studios that are interesting.

We were early (6) so didn't really need reservations then, but it did fill up by 7. The outdoor only dining was great with a covered top, side curtains if needed, attached bar, and fans. The service was extremely attentive without being intrusive.

The menu was eclectic and at first I wasn't sure if I was going to be happy, but the four of us decided to share .

Momed chips: essentially thick fry chips, good but nothing to write home about.

Brussel Sprouts: Delicious! and I don't even like brussel sprouts. They were somehow seasoned and deep fried (not battered). Amazing.

Short Ribs: very thick savory reduction sauce - a hit with everyone plus roasted vegetables and pears. Very very good.

Fig-Arugula Pizza: sounded strange but was the hit. The fig was like the center from a fig newton as a spread covered by the onions. Thin soft crust with white cheeses and crust edge folded over like a calzone.

Salmon with Cashew: very good a but a bit ordinary compared to the amazing flavors of the other dishes. I think the Cashew topping was described as a Salsa, but a bit more like a pesto to me. But nicely seasoned and not overcooked.

Our group was from Newport Beach, and we were impressed enough to talk about making the long drive back another time. After dinner we had lattes and sat on open air couches in the front to chat and people watch. All in all a great experience.
