From blacksmithing to carpentry, and stone-carving to jewelry-making, glass-blowing, etc. The Pratt is a fascinating place where you can see all sorts of artworks coming to life. It is also mostly funded by well deserved donations from people who support the arts.

My gf and I took a fantastic 4hr beginner blacksmithing class: the teacher was experienced and passionate about the subject, and the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had decent hands-on-time in a well supplied forge, making a couple of garden ornaments with a handful of friendly people.

I highly recommend looking into this institution if you are interested in learning blacksmithing (and from what we saw stone-carving, glass-blowing and carpentry as well).
