We had Total Air Solutions providing maintenance for our AC for the past 2 years. Every six months, a technician would come, a different tech each time, it seems, act busy for about half an hour, then take our money and leave after telling us that all was super. But it wasn't. For the past 12-18 months our system started to 'bleed' water. There was condensation on the walls of unit in which the 'coil' was located and water was dripping on our garage floor. But we were initially told not to worry because a little condensation was normal in the Summer.
Well... a few weeks ago it became clear that something was wrong as almost a bucketful of 'condensation' was accumulating each day. A technician came and diagnosed the root cause of the problem to be a cracked drain pipe. He agreed that this was not a 'recent' issue as he 'cleaned' large amounts of 'slime' that had developed at the bottom of the coil casing and the casing itself was quite rusted and corroded. However, 2 people were needed to access the pipe because the AC coil had to be removed first so he left and told me that the office was going to call me back and schedule a visit.
During my conversations with the office I tried repeatedly to understand why the issue was not spotted earlier and what exactly were the technicians doing at their maintenance visits if they were unable to spot 'water' inside my system. All I got was silence. It took several calls and several days for the next visit to be scheduled. Two technicians came, removed the coolant off our AC coil then decided that they wouldn't proceed with the proposed repairs unless they could clear next steps with the owner. Since the owner was 'in a meeting', they undid whatever they were doing and left.
When I called the office, on a Thursday, I was told that 'the owner' was out and was expected back on Monday or Tuesday. Again, nobody was able to explain what I was paying for when I was paying for those maintenance visits.
Calling again the following Monday, the person that could take my call was 'on another call'. Of course, she did not call me back. Calling again, one hour later, I was able to speak with her and she told me that 'the owner' was currently working on a remediation plan and I will be contacted shortly. Of course, that call never came. It is Tuesday now and still no call back from the owner or anyone else.
My impression is that they screwed up, big time, and they are now unable or unwilling to own the mess they, through their own incompetence or negligence created. They just lost my business because Total Air Solutions performed way below my expectations. It is not acceptable for a service provider to take money from preemptive maintenance, not act preemptively and then hide and refuse to act when needed. They simply took our money and they did very little in return and, when we really needed them, they decided to hide.
Incidentally, I called another AC company for a second opinion and, to my surprise, their diagnostic was something completely different. I am now waiting for a third opinion now.
Perhaps this should have been a 2-star review because the office staff was always polite but... nice talk, no action. Sadly.
