We were very dissatisfied with our recent stay. Our room had been smoked in by a prior guest, though we didn t realize it until after my husband had suffered an allergic reaction. There were bags on the smoke detectors clearly left by the prior guest. We have reason to believe the hotel was aware there may be a smoke smell because they called about an hour after we checked in to see if the room was ok. We reported the bags, but did not otherwise complain because we didn t yet recognize the issue. It was only early in the morning after a long, uncomfortable night that my husband's allergic reaction set in and he complained to the front desk. They said we should have complained earlier if there was an issue and merely issued a breakfast voucher. They claimed because we had booked via HotelTonight that they could not issue a refund. Given our level of discomfort, we felt this was a poor response. I was told the manager would call to follow up on my complaint and she never reached out. For two tired parents of a toddler on a rare night out, this was quite a disappointment and a missed opportunity to catch up on sorely needed sleep.
