Was eager to try a Richmond landmark for Valentine's Day, but left disappointed. They had a set three course menu, but I was advised while making my reservations that you could order off the regular menu. Maybe it's the cocktail movement in Richmond, but I was disappointed that they did not have a cocktail menu. The crab soup contained maybe two pieces of crab meat. The portion sizes of the entrees were laughable. I ordered the filet medallions and half lobster. I just went back to their website to confirm it said medallions because I got one that might have totaled two ounces and the half lobster was about three bites. On a positive note, the asparagus and fingerling potatoes were pretty good and were the highlight of the meal. My wife's plate of oscar filet did look pretty good, but her medium filet was cooked well to well done. Service wasn't terrible but it wasn't good. Took too long to get refills on water and beer. A table next to us sat for fifteen minutes before a waiter realized they were there. I hope Sam Millers can survive but they might need to totally revamp their menu and service to do so. Or maybe it was just a bad night.
