Tonight was my first time here. After getting down the stairs...I was lost. This place is a trip and a half. I made a few laps, and still wasn't sure; I thought about doubling back to the entrance in case I went in the wrong door, but the stairs were on a break, I think.
Couldn't find them anywhere.
Right there, as I began wondering just what the heck was up, it clicked and I was able to get my bearings: that was not a wall of mirrors on the far wall. Those were more lanes with more people having a good time.
Maaaan! I felt like Guy Pearce's character in Memento for, well, an indeterminate amount of time. It wasn't more than a couple minutes, for sure.
It is just that the layout is like what you'd find in some dream, dreamt years ago, but so vivid. Lucid, in the details...so uncharacteristic of what most experience with dreams, which is what makes it so haunting. Of course, the subject matter of the dream is usually indescribable with extreme intensity of one kind or another. Or whatever.
That was -all of it- a compliment, by the way. As for the staff, they were nothing less than consummate professionals without the stuffiness. Everyone was helpful, informative, and smiling. In fact the vibe was felt from employee and patron alike. People go bowling here because they know, from the moment you make your descent via the stairs(that came from a game show), you are going to get what you came for: good, clean fun that you can take the kids to, or roll in with the fellas or gals and relax.
At six feet, and wearing a mask, of course.
Keep it up!
