I decided to try Crossfit AMRAP some time ago to improve my fitness to help me better sustain an active lifestyle outside the gym. At 51, I belong to the group that Crossfit kindly refers to as Masters . When I initially walked into AMRAP, it seemed daunting to see what their members were doing as part of their ordinary day. As soon as I was introduced, reality proved quite the opposite. The coaches and members were welcoming and encouraging. There was no judgment, but a sense of ambition. The Coaches at AMRAP provide the training, scaling, and motivation for challenging, level competition whether you are new, experienced, sixteen, or sixty. I have been to other boxes, and Crossfit does have many great affiliates, but nothing I have experienced compares to the engaging and encouraging character that AMRAP and their community provides for me.

I would like to share a story from my early months. In my first fall at AMRAP, Coach Brit took away Old Card (my excuses for not working hard towards the progress I should) promising to return it at Christmas if I wanted it. Coach Brit was spot on, knowing that I would not need it by then. No, I don t need it. I steadily progressed because of the competition and support from other members, AMRAP s skills development, drive for injury prevention, and Coaching.

The AMRAP community, starting with Matt and Brittany, simply provides the supportive environment to help you get a little better every day. I looked back at my log today to find that I reached personal records for every lift within the past 12 months, let me re-use that old card for a moment, as a Master. Since joining Crossfit AMRAP, I have experienced a methodical transformation. These changes include improvements to my nutrition, strength, mobility, endurance, metabolism, composition, and outlook on what I can accomplish. The positives come from hard work and commitment. Individuals still put in that work. With the support of the AMRAP coaches and community the challenges are welcomed and encouraged. For me, AMRAP continues to provide the stage to simply be better at life.
