This only pertains to the wedding side. The actual lodge is awesome!

I went to book my wedding at GVL since it is a place my fiance and I have been going to for years. Unfortunately, the experience we had was awful. They have brunch options on the menu and thought that would be an unusual fun menu to serve for our wedding, everybody likes breakfast food right? Well no, they weren't able to "accommodate", saying their kitchen is too small for dinner time to do breakfast... whatever. Even when I was willing to change the time of my wedding so we could get the meal we wanted they told us we wad have to chose another room with a larger food and bev minimum without discounting us... just crappy service, they can't deliver because of mediocre conditions and I have to pay the price. There were other countless things that were crazy, $27 for a one bag of trail mix, 6$ per chair for ceremony (not too bad), however an 18% GRATUITY FEE on top of it... financial rape. I also thought, well hey, I will do my reception somewhere else but I REALLY want to get married there, PSYCH! They only let you do weddings if you have a reception. How this was discussed was me emailing saying, is ceremony still the same price if I do not have a reception? Response: you need to have a catered event in order to have a ceremony (again cryptic language not being straight forward), me: can we do our grooms dinner there? Response: No, you have to have a reception and it has to be the same day. There's the answer I was looking for, thank you for beating around the bush yet again! I think my favorite part of this entire experience is when the director of sales called me, ended up telling me that my concerns were valid, told me they were going to take all my ideas and apply them to their brochures (because they are not maintaining their clients expectations properly), and thanked me for helping them. THANK YOU SO MUCH GRANDVIEW FOR LETTING ME DO YOUR JOB RIGHT AND NOT DOING ANYTHING TO HELP ME BUT TELL ME I CAN'T HAVE MY WEDDING THERE! The wedding staff is unprofessional, they don't understand customer service, and unless you have a budget of 25k and will do your wedding exactly how they want you to do it, don't bother. So disappointed. Thank GOD Maddens on Gull was so accommodating and amazing, I wouldn't have been able to get married in the town I first told my fiance I loved him in otherwise.
