A splendid mosque situated at the entrance to Abu Dhabi city island distinctly visible from the three bridges that connect the island to the main land. The mosque is the burial place of the late Sheikh Zayed, the father of the Nation.

The mosque has many special and unique elements such the world's largest hand-knotted carpet, the world's 3rd largest chandelier weighing 12 tons and has over 40kg of 24c gold and the largest marble mosaic example in the world.

The lightning effect at night reflects the different phases of the moon.

The mosque's architecture fuses the wide and diverse Islamic work including the Mamluk, Ottoman, Fatimid, Andalusian, Moroccan styles which reflects the spirit of Abu Dhabi, the Capital of the UAE, as a melting point of civilisations.

The mosque minaret houses a library that has over 7000 books.

The visitor centre offers a variety of restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops.

Opposite to the mosque is Wahat Al Karama and the Ritz Carlton Hotel.
