My husband is a physician who is a part of UPMC Hamot. They do not care about patients. It is all bottom line. If they cannot make money then they do not want to provide the services. That is a well known fact among physicians in Pittsburgh. Avoid that hospital if you can. Go to Cleveland clinic. It is truly an institution that focuses on providing quality care to patients, not their bottom line.

Avoid UPMC Hamot at all cost. The physicians who cared about their patients regret selling their practices to UPMC Hamot. Hamot used to be a great hospital. Ever since UPMC bought the hospital the level of care has dropped. Also the physicians are definitely subpar. UPMC hires physicians who work cheap for them.

UPMC corporation is the highest grossing hospitals in the world. Read the time article in march 2012 to know the facts. UPMC is not that large compare to somany other hospital group. But still they make the highest gross income in the country.
