Simon-Aire PTAC in 5 years:

Simon-Aire PTAC in 5 years:
-3 FAN REPLACEMENTS(4th fan in 5 years)
-1 FREON LEAK
-CHRONIC COMPRESSOR ISSUES

I purchased a supposedly new Simon-Aire PTAC from Figlia which is their in-house brand. I normally don't write reviews good or bad, but Figlia & Sons and Simon-Aire deserve special recognition.

In YEAR 1 of the AC's operation, in addition to continuous compressor errors there was 1 freon leak, and 1 broken fan. Note: The unit is serviced and cleaned annually by my building's staff and an outside service.

In YEAR 3, the unit stopped working again due to a 2nd broken fan costing me an additional $200.00 for the part. Figlia's manager, CHRIS B., said the former fan blades were flawed and the new replacement would not break since he was involved in the fan's redesign. At the time, Chris B offered an additional 9 month warranty for my second fan replacement. I requested a two year warranty and he emailed,"Let's take one step at time right now your covered for the next 12 M. If problem continues I will deal with it at that time .."

In YEAR 5, the fan blade broke for the 3rd time, costing another $200.00 for the part. I've reached out to CHRIS B. over a dozen times and he will neither personally address this issue via phone nor email. Perhaps CHRIS B. is really busy redesigning and re engineering the fan again.

CHRIS B. finally had his HR manager contact me by email. While disregarding my repair questions, she proclaimed his good faith in offering an extended warranty on their 2nd fan replacement. Well, that fan just broke and I just paid Figlia for my 3rd replacement. It'd be helpful to hear from a technician, a repairman, or an engineer, but instead CHRIS B had the HR manager email me touting his generosity. That's right... Figlia had the HR manager address my repair issues.

I've requested to speak with someone at Figlia about about possible mechanical, misalignment, or installation issues causing the fan to break so frequently. Still no response... Maybe the PTAC would be durable if it had a backbone. I'd prefer to inspect, assess, and repair the unit, rather than continue to pay $200+ every year for a replacement fan.

Among other issues, 4 fans in 5 years is telling. Is Figlia obligated to offer any further assistance? No - However I would expect better from a $2000.00 Simon-Aire PTAC and the company manufacturing, selling, and servicing this brand.
