My husband and I went into Mulligan's Landscape & ...

My husband and I went into Mulligan's Landscape & Garden Center, Inc. on Elizabeth Lake Rd here in White Lake, MI, this past weekend and purchased over $400 worth of trees/bushes to help landscape our new home. We BOUGHT AND PAID for two different types of evergreen trees that were to be delivered this Friday. They were both sold to us at a sale price. Yesterday, we received a call from the clerk that sold them to us (who was wonderful by the way and very helpful) telling us that her boss, Kara, couldn't let the one tree go for the price we already paid for it and wanted $60 more. My husband spoke to Kara stating, "but you already DID sell it to us". Well, I guess since they still had the tree in their possession Kara figured she held the cards and refused to give us the tree for the price we already paid for it. Being completely shocked and frustrated my husband told her to keep both trees and refund us the total for both and the delivery fee...about $350. We were told we were "making a big deal out of an honest mistake". A mistake they made...not us. So instead of absorbing the $60 difference, they lost a $350 sale and a customer. What a poor way to treat your customers and to do business! I wonder, if we had taken the tree the day we bought it, would they have come and dug it up out of our yard. Unbelievable! Then when I called to assure they were sending the refund back to my credit card the man who spoke to me was very rude, and acted like this whole mess was our fault.

RE: Kara's response....we weren't offered any type of solution other than to pay $60 more for a tree we already bought...so I don't really understand your "it takes two" comment. By that you mean us just caving and paying you what you wanted? I think anyone with business sense knows you made a bad decision. You could have made up the $60 alone just in the delivery charge we were going to pay, considering you were only going to have to deliver the trees about a mile and half away. You left us no choice but to cancel our whole deal. But, no worries, your competitor, Bordines, is delivering our trees this week and at a better price than what we paid for your trees, before the $60 increase you wanted.
