I recently called to inquire for wait times at the Hamot Hospital in Erie, and the call was answered by an operator, her name is Sandy. When I asked about wait times she replied that it could be days and laughed. My son is 18 months and is in Erie for the holidays and has pneumonia, being a concerned parent I had hoped to get adequate care for my child while in Erie. Clearly those that are employed by your hospital lack the needed and desired empathy, care and caring - this exchange is very disappointing. As a patient of Duke University medical we obviously have an expectation of care that is beyond what UPMC Hamot is capable of providing. I plan to share this experience with everyone I engage with while in Erie, and eslewhere. Very Very Disappointing. I do expect a response from a client care representative from the hospital. I called back to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold for more than 15 minutes.
