I m sitting in the restaurant right now sipping a cup of their excellent coffee as I write this. Having reached Diamond & Platinum for the year at Hilton and Marriott respectively, I decided to give IHG a try. I must say I had very low expectations when I booked the Crowne Plaza Houston Galleria area, but I have been bowled over. Yes, the hotel is old. Yes, I did check the seams of the bed for bedbugs before getting in. But the staff is top tier. I don t recall the name of the guy who checked me in, but he was super pleasant every time I interacted with him. The wait staff in the morning were excellent and the breakfast offerings are probably the best I ve ever had for complimentary breakfasts - better than a full service Hilton, Marriott I actually saw the Chef come out and inspect the buffet. I m only staying two nights this trip, but I will definitely book it again when I come back. I can t tell about their executive lounge as it was closed during my trip though they did offer a cocktail voucher to make up for it.
