I trained at what was the Reynolds Metals Plant in October 1970. My job was Shift Supervisor at the recently built Invergordon Smelter in Scotland. Reynolds were the parent company and they sent a number of their staff over to Scotland to assist us with the start up. I enjoyed my stay (3 weeks) and learned a lot. I also got to know a number of the workforce and made many friends showing off my soccer skills to 2 young Arkadelphians whose dad Jim McMahon worked at the plant..
I stayed at the then Town House Motel which is now the Pioneer Inn in Arkadelphia and attended the 1st Presbyterian Church on the 2 Sundays I and my colleagues were there.
I was also introduced to the wonders of Gridiron and I'm still hooked on the game. For the record I'm a San Diego Chargers fan, but what I watched while in Arkansas was TV College games and they were brilliant. Great memories.
