A stunning and hands-on collection of vintage trains ranging from the early 1900s to just a few weeks ago when the R42 cars were retired. The real stars are the subway cars so as interesting as the first floor exhibits are, breeze past them to the second floor where you can walk through subway history. Not to be missed is a control board in a room behind the stairs. It's easy to miss, but shows off the strange and antiquated system used to track trains through tunnels.
The museum itself is in an old subway station, so it's below ground. That means it's easy to miss and may not be a great stop for the claustrophobic. Children, however, will probably love to roam around the old cars.
