One of the only rescues around that was open on a Sunday morning when I encountered ducklings in need of assistance in Lakewood! The group was nearly hit by myself and several other drivers coming around a corner on a busy road by a park. I parked nearby to guide them out of the road to the side they seemed to be wanting to cross to, then realized there was no mom around, on either side of the road! Waited about half an hour with the ducklings, guarding them from lurking crows and away from traffic until the rescue opened and then I called, and recieved a call back within 30 minutes with very detailed guidance for helping me through capturing the ducklings and bringing them north. They even checked the area to see if there was a rescue closer to me that I could take them to! Once we made it to Lynnwood, the process was quick and the ducklings, once checked out, were guaranteed to grow with a community of other ducklings they have currently in their care. I wish they had a wildlife care facility here in Pierce County. There is such a need for a place like this!
