My wife and I purchased our first home together in October and thought we had found a great company in Prepared but we were wrong. Two months after paying insurance for the full year, we received a letter out of nowhere in the mail on Dec 24th (Christmas Eve) stating our policy was being canceled. What a great gift to receive right before we were leaving to be with family. The reasons listed for cancelation (which are complete BS) were for pre-existing damage to the home and non-disclosure of damage. This was a shock as there was no damage to the house...this was proven through our extensive home inspection (that was provided to Prepared) along with the home inspection done by Prepared themselves. When our agent called to determine what was going on, we were told that there had been water damage claims from the prior owner on the house and this is why they were canceling even though there was no damage that could be identified in the house.

During that call, Prepared told our agent that if we fixed some cracked roof tiles and provided documented proof it was fixed the policy would not be canceled. So the last week of December while out of state with family for the holidays, I spent hours trying to track down a contractor to provide a quote and perform the work Prepared requested. After finding a contractor that could come give a quote the first week of January, we called Prepared to see if they could give us one more week to complete the repair work. During this call, Prepared said no extension and a manager reviewed and stated the policy would not be continued no matter what repairs were made on the house.

So not only did Prepared cancel my policy, I lost time with family during the holidays trying to fulfill their request in order to keep my policy. It was an extremely disappointing situation. In reading similar reviews, this situation seems to a trend with Prepared and I hope others do not go through the same experience.
