So we got there at the allotted time of our reservation because we were told we would be charged if we didn't show up on time
Fair enough.
Sat at the bar for 45 minutes till our reserved table was ready.
Seems that all the reviews have the same problem with tables not being ready on time......
Got seated.....
Waited at our table for drinks until the sommelier showed up and recommended some of the the most expensive bottles of champagne and wine. We haven't even ordered dinner yet so how does he know how to pair wines/champagnes?!?!?!
After questioning his decision(s) and asking him his level of sommelier certification (Som1, Som2, Som3 etc....) he sheepishly admitted he has no sommelier rating and was a self taught.
WHAT!!??!!
Well now our "self appointed sommelier" disappeared so I had to physically get up, walk over to the bar and ask the bartender what champagne we order at the bar so we could get more of it, I bumped into one of my other guests at our table and he was doing the same thing for his red wine (we were a party of 10)
WOW
Also I wanted a cocktail and had to wait 15 minutes and finally had to get up and corner someone down to take my order.
Pros:
A) Food was some of the best I've ever had...5 stars!
Con:
A) Absurdly expensive. (I regularly dine at Pebble Beach & Spanish Bay), this restaurant is 30-50% higher than any other 5 star restaurant Ive ever eaten at.....ever
Although like I said, the food was excellant from appetizers, dinner to desert.
B) Service was SLOW and un-attentive to the point of actually getting up 3 different times and asking to either clear our plates, please give us some bread and/or water refills.
3+ hours from the time we showed up to getting our check and leaving
C) If you want a table with a view you need to be either party of 2 or 4.
Any other bigger party sits in the back with partial view obstructed by steel beams/girders.
Maybe we hit it on a busy night (Saturday)..Still, if I'm going to pay ultra top dollar, I expect a little better level of service we received, and at least a rated sommelier.
