Lack of Diversity Trumps Rooftop View at Corner Alliance

Pros: When working at Corner Alliance what I appreciated was the change of scenery and the opportunity to work downtown. It's very busy and traffic could be challenging depending on commuting needs, but I enjoyed being in the heart of the city. Also, though the office was small it had a startup feel with a rooftop view.

Cons: Unfortunately, this organization. has serious diversity and communication issues. First, I was never placed in the role that I was hired for and instead asked to take a more junior-level position with the agreement that I would soon work on site with the client. This never occurred. Nonetheless, during my time at CA, I felt that my manager was not the best fit. It escalated to the point where I took the initiative to schedule a meeting with Human Resources to help me improve my performance and learn more about her leadership style. After this conversation,, my contract ended just days later. I was confronted by all parties about my private conversation with HR regarding my supervisor - with my supervisor (and her boss) - without my knowledge or consent. I felt ambushed by my colleagues/supervisor.

It has been 2 years since my employment with CA and I currently work in fulfilling role. However, I am asked about my experience with this organization and I have to be honest about my experience. It's important that future consultants are aware that this organization may have more of a clique culture rather than the progressive startup culture that's advertised.

Advice to management: My advice to management would be the following: hire more diverse leadership within your organization, offer leadership training to your existing supervisors and adopt a mentee-mentor program.
