Tana Kantor Review of The Pep Boys - Manny, Moe, and...

Last Saturday we had an emergency. My car battery died twice in 24 hours. I had made an appointment at the Lawrenceville, NJ Pep Boys for Monday, but since I drive my husband to a school district at 5am, we realized we couldn't wait.
Here's what happened:
1: Since I was clearly told that coming in on a Saturday was an inconvenience for Pep Boys, I tried to be sensitive and stay out of their way. There are two shopping centers a quarter mile walk from the store, so I got lunch, did some errands, came back.
2: I was told there were two cars in the bay in front of mine, and mine was next. However, there was no telling how long those would take.
3: Walked to another shopping center, came back 2+ hours later.
4: Was told there were two cars in the bay in front of mine, and mine was next. I took a walk, calmed down, and came back. I was upset. I was told repeatedly by my customer service rep -- Samantha -- that it was my fault for coming in on Saturday, and that they had told me it would take a long time. Jason kept saying that the 'two cars' could mean anything and that other people had made appointments and I should have waited until Monday.
5: I explained again that I was out of options, and was told, basically, too bad, you shouldn't have com here on a Saturday.
6: 6 hours later, I had a new battery. It's a 10-15 minute job, but clearly the people at Pep Boys were way more interested in teaching me a lesson than understanding my predicament. I think, in retrospect, that trying to be sensitive to their problems and staying out of the way was a mistake. Had I sat there being a pain in the ...., likely I could have gotten out sooner. The remaining representative, who checked me out, apologized. Which I very much appreciate.
There is one final note. I should not be driving at night without my night driving glasses. I didn't have them with me, because at 12:30 I didn't imagine I wouldn't get out until after dark. I got home. My husband was clearly upset and worried. I was tired and genuinely pissed off.
I am one of those who goes out of my way to thank helpful people. I often put thanks on line. This was egregious. Hurtful, and, I think, an irresponsible way to treat people. I apologize for taking my car to Pep Boys when I had no options. I should have gone anywhere else.
