My husband and I ate here randomly after wandering around Little Italy; we were drawn in by the authentic looking interior and checkered tablecloths. When I saw the prices I suggested we leave - they seemed so high - but I'm SO HAPPY we stayed!!!! Definitely worth it for a special experience. I can't believe some of the bad reviews, I wonder if people just have worn out taste buds from overly salty and sweet cuisine that numbs the senses these days?? Many people are too used to cheap fast-food pizza that's heavy on the cheese, grease and salt. Also, we lived in Italy for a year and tasted A LOT of pizza traveling throughout the country - I can say this is definitely authentic! Of course, Italy has a lot of variety, but this reminded us very much of some of the best pizza we had there. In fact, I would go as far as saying Lombardi's is the best pizza I've ever had, period. I've been making my own pizza for many years and see it as an art, and getting to a pizza like this one is not an easy task at all. I think the restaurant is an experience and a treat, not necessarily something you have on a regular basis (though I would be tempted to). Also, the service for us was excellent. We had no wait time arriving on a Wed. at 7 PM, and our waiter was super friendly and polite. We were going to get two smalls, but he suggested sharing a large to save money, so that goes to show this place isn't out to get your money. We had a half margherita and half white pizza - truly impressive. So I can't speak to other menu items, but theses were on point and beyond. Light crispy crust, perfect amount of cheese balanced with a flavorful sauce and herbs. Who cares the food is served on paper plates - it's about the food - you eat pizza with your hands so why bother about the dishes? Thank you Lombardi's for a great experience that had us feeling nostalgic for our time in Italy. All right, if it's not already clear.. I would highly recommend this place ;-).
