Terrible terrible tea experience!!! We were told we didn t need a reservation over the phone. The tea was served from 2-5 pm. When we got there at 2:30 we were told they needed
to see if there was a table available. There were 15 tables and only 2 were taken?!?!? So we waited 10 minutes and got a table. There were 2 of us and there were only 2 each of 1/4 of 4 different sandwiches- 2 scones that were as small as a child s fist and ONE each of about 10 cookies that were the size of a 50 cent piece. There was not even one of each kind for each of us. So I had to cut the 50 cent piece cookies into dime size pieces! We asked for more scones and they said they had to bake them! We asked for more sandwiches and they brought another set- this time the salmon was sans capers. We asked for another plate and they ran out of the chicken sandwiches and the bread it was on. Totally we got 4 slices of bread and 2 little buns. And this was a $40 tea!!! And they advertise it as a high tea which means food! It took 10 minutes for them to bring our drinks and I had to get up to get us plates!!! Our waiter finally stayed as far away as he could for fear we would ask for more. He was nice, but we had to pour our own champagne. The scones that they had to bake arrived after the end of the meal were more like biscuits than scones.
And there were screaming people swearing at the bar across the hall that we could clearly hear! There were no pretty tea cups, and no pretty decor. Felt like we were in a foyer. Not what you would expect from the Drake at $40 a person!!!
