Based on the way we were treated, which put a damper on a milestone birthday dinner, I would not recommend this restaurant. It is all about the view, and frankly those who paid $20/person to go to the observation deck got a better view so I would recommend paying admission to the park then having a more affordable dinner somewhere that actually wants your business.

The food was good. Only good. Not great, by any means, especially for $100+ per person for food with $24+ cocktails. When paying that much, I expect great food and excellent service.

CLV delivered neither. Particularly, they failed on the service side.

We reserved in advance, through Chope, and in the reservation I stated that it was a milestone birthday celebration, that we wanted a table outside by the edge with a great view, and that our timing was flexible (so if they didn't have a great table at the time requested they could tell us a better time.)

When we arrived at the elevator, dressed in our "middle aged tourist" garbage from a day out exploring Singapore, we learned that because of our reservation we could bypass the line and would not have to pay the $20 each to buy vouchers towards our meal. Great. So far so good.

When we got up to the restaurant, however, the hostess showed us to a "lovely table by the window". She really sold it as if it was a great table. It clearly wasn't. The "window" looked out onto the deck where the bar and outside restaurant seats. No view of the city at all. (We noted later that the original table and others like it were taken up by families with small kids.)

We reiterated what we had requested in the reservation and after some song and dance about there being no other tables she checked with someone then came back and said we could sit outside but warned us that it would be near the bar. We said that is fine. The bar music is loud but that's to be expected at a lively spot. Not a problem.

So she took us outside and led us to a table, a 4-top as far away from the edge as you can be without being inside.

We saw 3 edge tables in a row (all for 2) sitting empty and asked why not one of those. She mumbled for a moment then said those were for "earlier reservations". I pointed out that if they were for a slot earlier than ours, their 15 minutes grace (per the restaurant's confirmation email) was up and the table wouldn't be held. She looked flustered and I added that if she meant those people had reserved before me, perhaps she could tell me what day my reservation was made... With doors closed to both of those excuses, she relented and gave us a table at the edge.

Needless to say, this left a bad taste in our mouths.

We still managed to enjoy the view, and as I said, the food was good, just not great. But I won't be back and certainly would not recommend this place to anyone who doesn't arrive dripping with diamonds or some other visible sign that you can afford to be there. If you don't, prepare to be treated like a rube.
