I cannot say enough good things about INDIEhouse modern fragrance bar it fills a hole in the marketplace I didn t even know I needed!

Not only do they have an amazing collection of seasonally-appropriate fragrances (switched out twice a year!) from boutique labels that don t fill their products with a bunch of chemicals and allergens, they also help customers craft their own custom scents. At any time, you can wander into INDIEhouse and buy or create a bespoke scent from their vast array of fragrance oils. But they also host fragrance-crafting workshops that are super fun for groups.

My friends and I easily booked spaces online in advance for a Sunday fragrance workshop. We arrived prior to the 12 PM start time and were warmly greeted by the staff. They showed us around the beautiful store and got us settled in for the workshop in a separate, brightly-lit room. The workshop space is set up for about 10-12 people to participate at any one time, but because they are operating at reduced capacity and a few people did not show up (rude), we had the space to ourselves for most of the time.

The workshop itself is comprised of a 30-minute interactive presentation about the history of fragrances followed by hands-on fragrance crafting. The event had a great flow, and we weren t rushed at any point in the process. The staff outlined an easy-to-follow approach to identify the scents we liked and then test them together to craft a personal scent. When I was happy with the formula, they blended it together in a lovely bottle, labeled it with the name I chose for my scent and packaged it up in a cute, cloth bag. It s an adorable (and useful) keepsake. They also stored my formula details in the system so I can purchase a refill of my scent in the future.

I worried I d be overwhelmed by scents and unable to articulate what I liked and what I didn t. But the staff (owner Carrie and extremely patient employee Christy) were so kind in helping me along the way. My friends and I had an amazing time at INDIEhouse and learned a lot about fragrances to guide our choices in the future.

Helpful tips:

If you make a reservation, show up on time. The fragrance workshop is a group event, and you will miss out on key parts of the experience if you are late or you will be disruptive to everyone else who arrived on time.

You can bring drinks and snacks we brought mimosas to up the basic-factor but be kind and don t bring strong-smelling snacks or anything that will be distracting to others.

There s plenty of on-street and off-street parking outside of the store. It s located in the Alpharetta City Center, and there are tons of walkable stores and restaurants nearby.

With rigorous cleaning and air filtration, INDIEhouse is currently mask-optional. I felt comfortable spending time in the store sans mask to best exerience the fragrance-making process.

My friends and I had such a great time together making fragrances at INDIEhouse. It s great for bridal showers, date nights or a fun activity on rainy day. I will definitely be back!
