In general, we would have been, like always (after having spent many nights in Sofitel Hotels all around the world), very satisfied with the hotel, if that one incident wouldn't have happened.
In the evening we went dining in restaurant from the hotel at 7.15 pm , and i left my wallet on the desk in our room (in the restaurant we paid by credit card). In the wallet were at that moment 1x 50 and 1x 100 (i checked just before leaving for the restaurant while taking my credit card).
After dinner, i didn't check my wallet anymore but it was still on the desk. In the morning, during checkout, i paid breakfast and the rest of the invoice with my credit card. After checking out, whilst putting my credit card back in my pocket, i realised that the 100 bill had disappeared.
Since the wallet didn't leave our room, the logical conclusion is that a person must have entered our room while we were gone (during dinner or breakfast) and took the 100 bill. I immediately contacted a person from the service, and the lady in charge checked which people had entered our room since the evening before (1x Turndown Service in the evening at 8.20 pm , 1x Technician who checked the minibar at 10.05 in the morning). The lady guaranteed that those people would never take money from anyone.
So i had to accept the fact that my 100 bill, who had still been in my wallet at 7.00 pm, must have vanished...
I realise that i should have put my wallet in the safe-box, but to be honest, i would never have thought that anything like this would be possible in a Sofitel Hotel. It never happened before, but i guess that even in 5* Hotels, nobody can be trusted...
This leaves a very bad aftertaste to our trip and i am deeply disappointed.
