Travis Eldredge Review of Sid Richardson Scout Ranch

Where do I begin!?!? lets start the day we arrived, Saturday. We forgot to tell the camp director, charity, that we were coming early. We went and found some staff who were extremely eager to help! They helped us find what campsite we belonged in, and the chef invited us to the staff breakfast! Come Sunday we officially check in and get our swim checks done all the while the staff are already entertaining everyone with camp songs! We then received our tour led by James p. He was probably the funniest staffer there! Monday morning the staff are helping people get to their classes, and because some things are took far away they have a system where adults can take scouts in their cars to the next classes! The swimming instructors were awesome and hilarious! They were encouraging everyone and dealt with the scouts talking took much. Captain Truffles (John) my swim instructor, was the best I've ever seen. Note the fact that he saved the tarp at the pool that almost blew away during the tropical storm, bill. The kayak and canoe instructors were as always awesome, and extremely nice! Down at the sailing docks the staff, while I was there for only two days because of the lake shutdown, the staff were friendly and looked like they were having fun! And the black Smith, Kyle, while insane and loved to yell was a great teacher. He dealt with the little kids being not very smart with the fire, and was willing to help others who were having trouble. My personal management teacher had to deal with all of us being sleepy, being the class was the last of the day. Hands off to him! The rest of the staff were all amazing and definitely set a great influence upon my troop. I had a scout that was very home sick, it was the longest he had ever been away from home, had a very serious case of poison ivy, stayed. I believe it was because of the staff always encouraging them to stay because they made them feel appreciated. I also had scouts saying they wanted to staff there and tried arguing with me that they didn't have to be 14. They were very disappointed. The staff were also willing to clear up part of the dining hall do scouts with flooded our extremely wet campsites could sleep. Before lights out they brought board games out and played chess, some even played pictionary which was REALLY fun! And back to Kyle the black Smith, he acted like he didn't care about you. He probably actually didn't at all, but it definitely encouraged me to do my best and not disappoint him. He is the real MVP. Also the Diofs (director of food services a.k.a doofus) was extremely friendly and always in a great mood, made the most DELICIOUS camp food our troop has ever seen! And to the cashier's at the trading post, were so willing to help! Even when it took them a while to figure out how to manually charge my debit card, they had the patience to figure it out! And to all the other staff, on the behalf of me and troop 733, we would like to thank you for making us feel at home!
