Review of Creta Maris Hotel

We stayed here for 12 days during Covid so things were a bit different from normal. The hotel is very nice and the management team is excellent and very hospitable. The resort comes is huge and I suspect that your experience will depend, to a degree, on the room you get. There are traditional hotel rooms with a shared hall, but we stayed in what I would call a villa up on the hillside.

We had two different rooms, both with separate rooms for the kids and us which was really nice. The hotel is well maintained and we had no issues with anything not working. Maid service was great and everything was clean.

The facility itself has numerous pools, and most have a bar and some have snack shacks too. It could be difficult to get a sunbed as they had spaced them due to Covid which was frustrating but we usually either camped under a tree or in some grass. The pools are clean and the temperature was really nice. There is also a large beach area with a lifeguard and it was easier to find a sunbed on the beach than the pools. There is also a waterpark with large water slides which was a big hit with kids of all ages.

The food was mostly good but could be hit miss at times. First the most part we were happy and aside from the odd grumpy waiter most of the staff were tremendously hard working and friendly. Food options include a buffet style main restaurant where you had many choices, but also individual restaurants (by reservation) with specific food styles. We preferred the restaurants but the kids liked the buffet of course. There is wine and beer in the restaurants and hard liquor in the bars. For the most part the choices were good but the bartenders didn't know how to make some of the drinks I asked for so I had to walk them through how to make the. No bug deal. Lines could get long at the pool bars during peak hours.

Otherwise they had a small mini golf course, tennis, football, table tennis, and other games. There is a game room and also an outdoor movie theater but many of the movies were overdubbed in Greek which didn't bother the kids but was impossible for me.

Overall we were happy enough that we stayed the additional 5 days after enjoying the first week. I would be happy to return.
