I have been to many haunted houses, most around the Pittsburgh area, and I was still surprised by Castle Blood.

The exterior of the building leaves a bit to be desired; it is entirely too easy to miss it since it sits in a standard and almost un-decorated office building. All of the staff outside was exceedingly friendly, though, and made the wait for tickets and entry very enjoyable.

Once inside, I do recommend you come with a group who will allow themselves to get lost in the story and "play along" as it were. Groups of 3-5 are probably the best size for the interactions inside. Contrary to how they describe it online, the "puzzles" inside are simply joining in a scene with the characters and trading little trinkets you get with the correct person at the correct time.

There are a few pop-out "boo" scares in the attraction, but overall it is mostly just creepy and not actually scary. The attraction will take probably 20 minutes once inside but lines can apparently get long outside because they take care to stage groups so that no two overlap. Definitely a unique attraction and a fun one at that; even if you don't like haunted houses you can have fun here.
