John Angus Review of SS Great Britain: Visualising ...
We have Mr Brunel to thank for building this ship...
We have Mr Brunel to thank for building this ship in the old " build it simple but build it like a battleship " victoria style and one Mr Ewan Corlett for rescuing said ship from the Falkland Islands.
Speaking of battleships , some of the S.S Great Britain's iron plates were used to patch up H.M.S Exeters battle damage caused during the Battle of the River Plate.
Your admission fee not only gives you access to the ship but also the Dry Dock, Dock yard museum, Brunel Institute and visitor centre.
Small car park outside the attraction but with Limited Disabled parking slots.
Generally speaking access to the Ship and surrounding areas is very good.
Good catering facilities offering reasonable prices with most tastes catered for.
Wheelchair users can access the Ship and the dry dock by means of a lift.
Do take advantage of the free audio tour which really brings the whole attraction to life.
Very good family day out in my opinion and well worth more than one visit.
