I have been doing FLVS for two years now and I prefer it over public/private/charter school. I am a Type One Diabetic and being in a germy school enviroment caused me to become sick. There are a couple of things i would change. I think there should be a alternative for DBAs. I asked, and teachers just said, "video chat." I mean a real alternative like doing a live lesson or working in a group on a live lesson to answer the dreaded, and sometimes irrelevant, DBA questions. Maybe providing the questions before the DBAs. Also, the teachers ask the students to submit the assessments in order. However, the teachers don't have to grade in order. WHY? Should'nt they show us the same respect that we show them. Also, some of the courses only have one availible collaboration. That makes it extremly hard to plan around! One time, all I had to do was complete a welcome call. I called, emailed, and texted the teacher 3 times a day for each. This went on for 3 WEEKS. No joke, a welcome call can be completed in 5 minutes or less. Finally, we contacted their principle and he just laughed. When we finally got ahold of them, they said, "Oh, three weeks isnt that long sweetie!" ARE YOU SERIOUS! The reson i gave FLVS 3 stars is becuase, ya, it has flaws but the positves even out the negatives. For example, if you are sick, doing school is easier. If you have morning sickness, like me, you can just relax in the morning and do school later in the afternoon or at night. Traveling is also easier becuase FLVS teachers will bend their and your schedules! (somtimes) All together, FLVS isnt for everyone. Only for students who are A advanced, B willing to put in twice the amount of time of regular school, and C who can handle MASSIVE amounts of stress.
