The caregivers were excellent. In ICU and intermediate ICU. Once transferred to the room 539 the nurses there were horrible. They lacked empathy and feelings towards their patients with the exception of an aid who was helping everyone despite the fact that some of the rooms did not fall under her assistance. I think her name was Meco.
On the rooms the nurses failed to drain my moms ostomy bag and she often had leaks. Very bad nurses on the rooms floor. One Cuban nurse lead came to my moms rooms very aggressive because she wanted to take a shower and told my sister and I bluntly in our faces that she did not care about what we had to saiy then she was trying to rear my mom into not wanting a shower by putting many obstacles in the way to justify why she should not shower. First the cardiac leads then the ostomy bag. Also on this floor the nurses congregate to talk on the hall ways and the family can hardly walk to and fro. They see you trying to maneuver to move and not even out of courtesy do they offer to move their equipment.
The hospital has gotten a lot better but there is definitely room for coaching their employees nurses and caregivers into being more compassionate and understanding with the family s who often are going through a very rough process. My mom was in a near death experience and the 4th floor nurses were cold as Ice. I did not trust leaving the hospital at night and my mom there. The nurses did not care and that was the overall message I got from the floor of Hell. 4th floor rooms.
Kudos to the ICU personnel and 3R personnel but the 4th floor regular rooms nurses nothing good to say they needs a lot of work. I am hopeful that they will get it together.
