I ended up here because my hairdresser was off the island for a month. Now, let me say this: TEACH YOUR STUDENTS ON HOW TO MANAGE ETHNIC (BLACK) HAIR! My experience wasn t so good, I had a lot of patience mainly because cutting my hair was not included in my scheduled service and I understood it s a learning environment...BUT to not know the basics of managing ethnic hair is atrocious! I think it s important for hairstylists to know ALL hair types, especially today in 2019! Being that I made my appointment a week earlier, a true student would have researched to the T her upcoming task/client s needs. You become well rounded in your craft! Understand the process of applying a relaxer, detangling the hair before you commence to blow-drying it and lastly, make your client feel comfortable by striking up a conversation! Nothing more awkward than someone doing your hair and their customer service skills are non-existent! You re not doing a mannequin s hair, it s okay to speak, that s how you build clientele TBH, it s your rapport! This business of hair and beauty is SATURATED with too many stylist but only the diverse and skillful ones survive and actually make a great living doing what they love and it shows!
