My wife, Maria, and I were married on August 7, 20...

My wife, Maria, and I were married on August 7, 2020. While I m sure a lot of people would think us crazy for getting married in the midst of a global pandemic, we had already started planning for marriage back in November 2019 when we got engaged. We used the website Eventective to put out feelers and see what was available in the area (in our price range) and Shannon Kenealy from Spring Creek Golf Club reached out to us.

We began communicating with Shannon in December and set up a visit for us to be able to tour the grounds and ask questions. After talking it over with Maria, and reviewing our other options, we decided to go with Spring Creek. And we are glad we did!

We had our food tasting at the end of April, as Virginia started reopening after the caronavirus pandemic. Maria and I both still had our concerns about going forward, but Spring Creek did a great job of addressing our concerns on the reception front (i.e. food serving, seat spacing, staff precautions, etc.).

Fast forward to the day before the wedding: Our wedding rehearsal was at 4, our rehearsal dinner (which was going to be immediately after) ended up getting delayed by tornado warnings, downed power lines, etc. But Shannon, and the staff at Spring Creek were very accommodating, staying late to help us decorate, having the tables all set and ready to go for us, and having the TV in place for us to test our virtual components.

The morning of the wedding, when nerves were at their highest peak, Shannon and her staff were very helpful. She answered all my texts, got one of her staff to let us into the Celebration room to take care of some last minute details, and Captain Ben even got a coffee for me while I set up name tags on the tables, and got the bride some fruit while she was getting her makeup done.

Before the reception began, Maria and I got to take a quick ride on a golf cart as we looked for the right spot for our outdoor photos. It was a hot day so, midway through, she brought out a couple waters (along with one of our appetizers) to keep our energy up!

The reception itself was wonderful. Shannon checked in on us multiple times throughout the evening, which was great because everything was happening so quickly that we didn t really have time to figure out what we needed for ourselves. She warned us well in advance that the bride and groom don t usually get to eat dinner like all the other guests do we re in such high demand! She took great care of us though, and as the evening was ending, she gave us large bag filled with containers of food, including some of the appetizers that we didn t get to try during cocktail hour because we were doing photos. We finally got to eat at 11:30 pm and the food was fantastic!

Maria and I both had our fears about having a wedding during the pandemic. We knew that it was going to be a smaller gathering, and we had fears that it might not feel like a real reception, but Shannon took great care of us and helped make it one of the happiest nights of our lives. She was there for us from start to finish, even offering to take Maria s 5-year-old son up to the playground for a little break when he started to get fussy.

I can t thank them enough for everything they did, nor can I recommend them highly enough!
