Ignoring the ethical issues of zoos/parks like this, and cutting them some slack due to COVID and it s ramifications on staff, resources, etc - I d say the Barcelona Zoo is one of the better ones in Europe. Overall, most of the exhibits (and the animals) look well cared for; there s a good variety of species; the park is laid out extremely well; and the location is really solid for tourists and locals alike. Great spot to take advantage of nice weather, take a long walk, and see some (seemingly) well cared for animals. Biggest advice I could give: avoid weekends and holidays to avoid crowds. The experience is night & day better on a leas crowded day/time.
