Bottom Line: This hotel is not worth the price despite its attempts at being a classier hotel than it really is.
My wife and I stayed over the Labor Day long weekend. We are both IHG Platinums and very frequent travelers and chose this hotel as Kimptons are generally a step above the norm when it comes to IHG hotels. The Brice, however, leaves much to be desired to actually meet being a 4 star hotel. The staff was just average to subpar, lacking in the charm and hospitality seen at higher end hotels. They never greeted us walking by, asked how the stay was, or simply acknowledged us in general. The overall cleanliness of the hotel was severely lacking as well. The hallways and lobby were dirty, the walls had chipped paint all over and the overall hotel smelled of wet dog, as it is a dog friendly hotel. However, so many people had dogs it seemed more of a kennel than an actual upscale hotel. The room itself was decent, if small. It should be noted this hotel was a renovated historic building, which if done correctly could have increased the rustic charm they were going for. Instead, it just felt dirty and poorly done.
Overall this hotel is of no better quality than an average Holiday Inn, though I ve stayed at some that were better than The Brice. Definitely not to Kimpton standards and certainly far from upscale. I d rate it as 2 star hotel quality at best.
