If it were not for the UFT, I would not be alive today. I had a stroke 21 years ago and had to retire. The office on Queens Blvd. was so wonderful. They advised me to take a 6 mos. sabbatical for restoration of health bc my doctor said perhaps I could go back to work. After the six mos. that sabbatical ended, he would not authorize me to go back bc I still needed more pt and ot. The Medical Division was also great when I was examined. I turned 55 the next mo. was able to retire bc I was Tier One The downtown office was also terrific! The UFT was wonderful speaking to my dr. with the utmost respect. They also gave my son, who had just graduated from college excellent advice and referred him to a therapist. Anytime, someone says something mean about unions, I tell them I am living proof of how the UFT helps its members! Love you guys!
